After the launching of its maiden (print) issue in December 2006, the Limbe-based The Sun newspaper becomes the latest Cameroonian English language weekly to establish an Internet presence. It joins a select group of newspapers such as The Post, L'Effort Camerounais, and The Entrepreneur which have already carved a niche for themselves on the web.
The Sun hopes to become a credible and respected presence on the Cameroonian media scene with what its staff promises will be balanced, fair and factual reporting.
The Sun’s Editor-in-Chief is none other than veteran journalist Victor Epie Ngome, a.k.a The Rambler, who has been a permanent fixture on the Cameroonian media scene since the late 1970s.
Epie Ngome is assisted by group of talented individuals such as Nobert Wasso, one-time President of NUCS-Nigeria and Bouddih Adams, former columnist at The Post.
The newspaper hopes to broaden and diversify it content by tapping into the resources of the Cameroonian Diaspora. Its Diaspora contributors include Janarius Asongu in the US, Samira Edi in England, and Samuel Wara in Nigeria
The Sun’s website is maintained by Lloney Monono who also serves as the newspaper’s Business Editor. The print edition of The Sun is published every Wednesday and its website updated every Thursday.
Hopefully The Sun has come to stay and will not just be another meteor in the sky.
Best of luck!
