What is all this noise about debt relief.Infact, the dubious nature of the western powers is ever glaring.Did western leaders not promise 3 years ago to forgive the unpayable debts of the world's poorest countries? So how come a country like Ethiopia wrote a cheque for 100 pounds, nearly 10% of its revenue to its creditors even as its worst famine in 20years was threatening.Countries like Zambia and Mozambique are to pay back almost 250 million pounds even as they struggle to feed their people.
HIPC isn't working as 10 of the 26 countries which entered it since the Cologne agreement of 1999 have exited from it.The first country to qualify for debt relief,Uganda has since seen its external debt increase.
So,the never gives anything for free. All this talk of debt relief is a huge sham.Who knows ow much the Cameroon gov't has to pay for qualifying into the HIPC initiative.

NGa Adolph.
