Wow! This is the first time that I am actually listening to Ahidjo speak. The man reeked of excessive self confidence and poise!!!!! This probably explains why with only a primary school education, he was able to control Cameroon with an iron fist for a quarter of a century... In fact, I dare say he was a much more forceful, articulate and eloquent speaker than JFK.

Too bad us children of the "Biya generation" never got to have a president who actually commanded our respect. One day perhaps

Nadia

For some reason I can't stop (re)watching this video. This Ahidjo guy facinates me.

Chief Bisong Etahoben

One can only compare two things. Now that Cameroonians are able to compare the Ahidjo governance with that of Biya, they are in a better position to judge who had the interest of the majority of Cameroonians at heart. However, contexts count alot in arriving at sound judgement when comparing more than one thing. It is unfortunate that most Cameroonians hurried to judgement about the Ahidjo presidency when Biya took over Cameroon. It is left for us to decide whether manipulated freedom on an empty stomach within a predominantly kleptocratic and vicious officialdom is better than heavy-handed governance in the middle of prosperity and a healthy citizenry.

Angry Cameroonian

Biya is a criminal. He should be locked up by the International Human Rights Court.
