Nestlé has announced the winner of the Creating Shared Value Prize 2016. It is Agro-Hub from Cameroon. Nestlé CEO Paul Bulcke presented the CHF 300,000 prize (312,120.99 USD) to Agro-Hub at the Creating Shared Value Forum in Abidjan, Côte d’Ivoire.
The Nestlé Creating Shared Value Prize was launched to help business-oriented initiatives that address challenges in nutrition, water, or rural development, to scale-up or be replicated.
Through the prize, Nestlé rewards initiatives that reflect the spirit of Creating Shared Value, an approach any organisation can take to create economic returns by developing solutions to societal problems.
Agro-Hub is an agricultural production and marketing agency in south-west Cameroon working to help small-scale farmers gain access to sustainable markets. Agro-Hub has built a small-integrated factory to transform cassava into starch and garri, a type of tapioca, and sell it to its network of consumers through its own fresh food store (Agro-Mart).
Congratulations to the winners!
